EDL Members Advocate Lynching, Shooting And Nuking

Throughout the far-right looniverse, there are many people who have crazy extreme views. And some of these extremist views can be found in the British far-right group, the English Defence League (EDL).

Here are more than 20 comments left on the EDL’s Facebook Page on multiple posts that we found recently. If you don’t believe they are there then you can look for yourself using the comment time-stamp.

These comments go as far as to advocating lynching, gassing and shooting (on those who look “Asian” or belong to the “Muslim” faith). Some even advocate the extermination of a group of people and nuking densely populated areas.

Isn’t this extremism?

EDL Leader Shares FAKE ‘Muslims Celebrate Boston Bombing’ Story

Far-right sites, blogs and hate groups have circulated articles that claim ‘Muslims’ were ‘dancing in the streets of Gaza’ after the horrific Boston marathon attack and handed out sweets.

We, at EDLReview, exposed this story to be a fake story (here), which was just an attempt to demonize Islam and Muslims.

Created by proponents of the extreme far-right, the only ‘proof’ the articles had were some pictures and one video, which we found out to be over a year old. As we know, the Boston Bombings happened some days ago.

We also uncovered how various English Defence League (EDL) Divisions and allies shared this fake story en masse (here). But what we also came to realise was that the EDL leader Tommy Robinson also shared the story from the biased Israel News Agency on his Twitter.

His oversees allies, hate-group founders Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller, also circulated this fake story from the same news agency. It’s no surprise.

EDL Share FAKE ‘Muslims Celebrate Boston Bombing’ Story

Far-right sites, blogs and hate groups such as the Israel News AgencyBareNakedIslam, and Atlasshrugs (amongst many others) claimed that ‘Muslims’ were ‘dancing in the streets of Gaza’ after the horrific Boston marathon attack and handed out sweets.

We, at EDLReview, exposed this story to be a fake (here).

Created by proponents of the extreme far-right, the only ‘proof’ the sources had were some pictures and one video, which we found out to be over a year old. As we know, the Boston Bombings happened some days ago.

But this didn’t stop bigoted far-right groups like the English Defence League (EDL) sharing it to create tensions between religious communities. Here are many screenshots of those involved.

The EDL Divisions and breakaway groups involved in circulating this fake story were (but not limited to): the EDL London Division, the Danske Defence League, EDL Bradford Division, EDL Luton Division, EDL Rochdale Division, and the not-so-Christian Christian Defence League.

What is funny is how the EDL Rochdale Division expressed support for “facts”, when they themselves circulated a fake story later the SAME DAY.

Combined ex Forces Make St Georges Day BLOOPER

With a few ties with the English Defence League (EDL), the Combined ex Forces (CxF) group is an extreme right paramilitary organisation for former, current and future members of the armed forces which focuses primarily on demonizing Islam, Muslims and anyone who doesn’t seem, “English”.

It acts ‘patriotic’ time and time again, and here is a picture they posted up about upcoming St Georges Day.

You may have noticed something rather strange in the above picture. Yes, the Combined ex Forces don’t seem to know when St Georges Day is, neither do they seem to have a good grasp of the English language.

For all those don’t know, St Georges Day is normally celebrated on April 23.

Taxpayer Money Wasted To Bus EDL Supporters

Manchester Evening News has reported that police paid £2,500 to bus hundreds of English Defence League (EDL) supporters into Manchester for a protest march, according to the M.E.N.

Around 700 members of the right-wing group were brought from across Manchester city centre on taxpayer funded double-deckers, last month.

The demonstration, which also attracted anti-fascist opponents, cost Greater Manchester Police more than £50,000 overall. £35,000 went on staff overtime alone.

The M.E.N. obtained figures under freedom of information laws showing the cost to the police for controlling the event. The bill, excluding VAT, was £35,360 for police overtime, £6,774 for vehicle hire, including £2,560 for six buses to transport EDL protesters, £6,247 for food and drink provisions for all operational staff and £2,840 for equipment (metal fencing) and misc costs.

City figures have slammed the EDL for draining the public purse.

Muslims Dancing In Streets After Boston Terrorist Attack?

Far-right sites, blogs and hate groups such as the Israel News AgencyBareNakedIslamSeraphic PressAtlasshrugsMr Conservative and the Gateway Pundit (amongst many others) have claimed that ‘Muslims’ were ‘dancing in the streets of Gaza’ after the horrific Boston marathon attack and handed out sweets.

This fake story can now be exposed as a blatant attempt to demonize Islam, Muslims and Palestinians. And we’ll show you why.

Circulated stories reuse pictures over one year old!

Stories using these pictures (like the ones shown above) are not new. These pictures provided by Getty Images (here) go as far back as March 2011!

It shows a Palestinian offering sweets to some people in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, after a terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar where five family members were murdered in their sleep.

The story, which was picked up by an Israeli tabloid, was then circulated by the press which reported jubilant Muslims crowding Gaza’s streets, handing out candy and sweets in the wake of the murders, even though no “jubilant Muslims” are seen in the above pictures.

It is only one man in these pictures, so this is being over-dramatized by the far-right, who are making it look like many Palestinians were celebrating.

We can therefore, conclude these pictures do not show anyone ‘celebrating’ the Boston bombings, seeing as they are over a year old whilst the bombings in Boston were only three days ago.

Circulated video is over one year old too!

Islamophobic hate websites and blogs such as BareNakedIslam are also circulating a video (here) that supposedly shows Palestinians celebrating.

But the uploader of this video uploaded this video one year ago, so it can’t be recent! Furthermore, the video title on Vimeo says it is a midnight dance party, not a “celebration” of the Boston attacks.

Conclusion - Fake story

In conclusion, this story has been exposed as unreliable. The makers of this story have reused pictures and videos which were on the net more than a year ago and are making the story look new. The sources circulating this false story have been exposed as being misleading bias sources of information.

There is no proof that any ‘Muslim’ was ‘dancing in the streets of Gaza’ after the horrific Boston marathon attack took place. These stories are fake pieces of propaganda.

EDL Has ‘Potential’ To Stoke Radicalisation

Last month, a minister warned that far-right movements like the English Defence League (EDL) have the potential to inspire individuals to break off and join more extreme groups.

Delivering a speech at a conference on far-right extremism, security minister James Brokenshire said that the rise of movements such as the EDL was a “worrying phenomenon”, Bolton News reported.

He warned that the EDL and others have the potential to “stoke radicalisation” and could ultimately cross the line into an area that concerns counter-terrorism strategy.

The minister also revealed that more than 2,000 websites had been shut down since 2010 for breaching UK terror laws by the Counter-terrorism Internet Referral Unit.

Mr Brokenshire hit out at groups such as the EDL for “inflaming tensions and spreading hate-filled prejudice within communities.

His speech came as a King’s College London report claimed the EDL was exploiting concerns surrounding grooming gangs to fuel its anti-Islam agenda, focussing less on those who aren’t necessarily ‘Muslim’ or ‘Asian’ (examples here).

The far-right group is using recent cases, such as the nine Asian men jailed last year for grooming girls in Rochdale, to build support and is building a far-right network with countries across Europe, according to the university’s International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation.

Far-Right Poppy-Burning Rumour Debunked

The British far-right have been sharing a picture to stir up tension between communities which has been circulating across social networking site Facebook.

It asserts that two men were sentenced imprisonment for spray painting a mosque despite much lesser sentences being handed out for other examples of racial crimes but actioned out by “Muslims”. It reads:
Quote: “In May 2010 Tohseef Shah spray painted a British War Memorial with  slam will dominate osama is coming he was fined £50 & walked free from court. In November 2010, Emdadur Choudhury burned a Poppy during the. 2mins silence. He too was given a fine, £500 and walked free from court. Today, 2 men have been sentenced to 12 months in prison for spray painting a Poppy on a mosque. Pass this on if you think its a disgrace.”

Why the picture is wrong

One of the war memorial vandalisers named, Tohseef Shah, was not just fined £50. He was fined £500 in compensation, £85 court costs and a two year conditional discharge for spray painting a memorial statue.

The two men who were trialled in Portsmouth on-the-other-hand, did more than paint a poppy on a mosque. The Durham Times reported that they also text eachother about “Muzzy bashing” and defaced a nearby store and guest house, which were owned by Asians. An upstairs window on the store was smashed with a brick too.

They were not sentenced to six months as the picture tells us. One of them got a 12-week prison sentence.

Here’s the SURPRISE!

The Durham Times reported that the two men who vandalised the mosque, the store and the guest house, were in fact supporters of the EDL and the North East Infidels (NEI). The initials EDL and NEI as well as the words “no surrender”, the cross of St. George and figures of red poppies were sprayed in the area.

EDL And Allies Make Boston Blaming BLOOPER

In a desperate attempt to blame Islam or Muslims, far-right xenophobic individuals and groups like Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller and the English Defence League (EDL) immediately jumped on a New York Post story that turned out to be FALSE, claiming that a Saudi national had been taken into custody in the Boston bombings.

Later reports like one from the Washington Post reported that the Saudi man injured in the blasts was a witness, not a suspect.
Quote: “U.S. law enforcement officials said Tuesday that a Saudi national injured in the Boston Marathon bombing is regarded as a witness, not a suspect.”
EDL Divisions who tried circulating such inaccurate information included the EDL Angels, the EDL Bradford Division, the EDL Yorkshire Division, the EDL Jewish Division, the EDL Lancaster Division, the EDL Luton Division, the EDL Northampton Division and the Italian Defense League (IDL).

It is now two days after the incident and the admins have not made any correction to the posts even after it has emerged the Saudi isn’t a suspect.

This just goes to show how the EDL are sharing wrong information to further their cause. Intentional or unintentional, it is deceptive and most of all, stupid.

EDL Supporters Fall For SILLY Scares

The English Defence League (EDL) has been at the forefront of scaring the British public by sharing incorrect information and have even used images of epileptic children to further their cause (here, here, and here).

This time, the EDL Leicester Division has shared an image depicting the Buckingham Palace as a mosque, with caps-lock text saying it’s a “question of time” that this will happen.

Supporters were quick to ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the picture, but what is also surprising is how one EDL supporter thinks people should ‘arm themselves’ (shown above).

Why the picture is blatant fear-mongering

Why would anyone even let such an iconic building as the Buckingham Palace be transformed into a mosque in the first place? It’s a stupid thought.

Also, people fail to recognise that it is extremely difficult to implement Sharia Law in the UK in the first place. People who promote this myth (like the EDL) have a limited understanding of how British laws are produced and ratified.

This includes continuous reviews of laws and the final process of being made an Act of Parliament by the Queen giving it her Royal Assent (which is highly unlikely). Click here for more information.

Far-right Dutch Freedom Party joins in

Fans of the far-right Islamophobic Dutch Freedom Party (DFP) were also quick to share the picture. This comes as no surprise, seeing as how the party has been hell-bent on demonising the Islamic faith and Muslims ever since it began. In its programme, it calls for the banning of the Quran, taxes on people who wear the Islamic headscarf and the closing of Islamic schools.

Now we know why it’s called the ‘Dutch Freedom Party’.
