EDL: Making Things Worse

To think the English Defence League (EDL) has made a positive difference in Britain is probably like someone thinking Nazism played a positive part in Germany. Why? Because the EDL has shown to have made little or no difference to Britain.

Islamophobes and loons have a big problem in the way they do things for a start. They claim to target ‘militant Islam’ and ‘Islamic extremists’, but they have a stupid technique to target the majority too. What good does this do? Nothing. By doing so, not only do people become divided, but the chance to make peace and tolerating one another becomes harder to achieve.

One doesn’t even need to look far in the EDL to notice the severe lack of differentiation, with supporters chanting “Allah is a pedo” and other brainless remarks happening quite so often. Heck, the EDL Jewish Divison even calls Muslims ‘Muzzrats’.

Bridging divides? Definitely not.

Some EDL supporters have even chanted ‘Let’s go kill a Muslim’ on a train.

If that’s not enough…

Why else has the EDL done more bad than good?

  • The EDL have given rise to the dangerous far-right
  • The EDL has housed many extremists, including neo-Nazis and football hooligans with criminal records (even the EDL leader Tommy Robinson has his own convictions)
  • The EDL continues to influence people, even Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik was influenced by the EDL and described them as a “blessing”
  • The EDL has cost the taxpayer now more than a million pounds in money
  • Apart from raising awareness about certain issues (like grooming cases), the EDL have not achieved anything from protesting on the streets
  • There have been many cases of vandalism during EDL protests and demonstrations, even cases of graffiti outside of demonstrations
  • The EDL has hijacked many cases for its own good to gain support and divide up communities, such as the Sikh protest
  • Rather than teach people balanced facts about Islam like the Mission Statement states the EDL will do, the EDL constantly criticize the faith and fail to bridge divides
  • The EDL fail to differentiate Islam and militancy and terrorism hereby making peace and tolerance harder

From what we have seen since the EDL even began. The EDL has probably done more damage than good. Of course EDL supporters would disagree, but they must ask themselves,
“Since the EDL began, which extremists and groomers have been sent to prison because of the EDL? Which extremists have been stopped in their tracks because of the EDL? What good has the EDL done in helping bridge gaps between all faiths instead of dividing up the British community?”
Clearly, not much.

This is certainly an serious issue, because it affects all British citizens, OUR hard-earned money and even OUR future upbringing (it doesn’t seem like some EDL parents are affecting their children very well either).

Conclusively, we certainly don’t want an extreme far-right group running the show. For the sake of all of us and our future.
