Why are there more Islamists than the potential number of UK Muslims?

In the 2001 UK census, the approximate number of Muslims living in the UK was 1.6 million. In 2010, Britain was estimated to have around 2.9 million Muslims, around five per cent of the population, according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. We have no accurate data to know the total Muslim population of the UK just yet.

If this sign is correct, then this means that pretty much the majority (perhaps all) of the Muslims in the UK are ‘Islamists’. We know that isn’t true. What is true, is that this is fear-mongering and horrific inaccuracy at its finest.
