Report Says Most Far-Right Supporters Agree With Violence

According to a report published by the thinktank Chatham House, significant numbers of far-right supporters in the UK consider violence and “armed conflict” a legitimate form of political expression.

The report polled 2,152 far-right supporters from membership of a mainstream rightwing party to far-right terrorist, they raised concerns that the path of extremism (followed by the Norway bomber Anders Breivik) should be considered a possibility.

This report has been covered by the Guardian newspaper.

More seriously, another report released in August by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), showed that murders carried out by right-wing extremist groups have been on the rise recently, nearly doubling since the mid-2000s.

On the English Defence League (EDL)

A key commentator spoke about the EDL and said,
Quote: “If the EDL links up with similar organisations in Germany and central and eastern Europe, that is quite worrying.”
The scary thing is, the EDL has made relationships across Europe already and it already plays a part in the Islamophobia network with other affiliates, many of them even operating in America (like we saw at the ‘Counter-Jihad Initiative’)

Extremism in the EDL and its supporters

Of course, every member of the EDL isn’t an extremist. But without a doubt, extremist ideologies can be seen throughout the EDL network. For example we have seen:

(Hover over for proof)

Examples of extremism in the EDL

Various EDL members posing with armed possessions at home

The EDL's Jewish Division sympathising with the Norway bomber

A supporter posts up a violent song targeting a minority group

EDL affiliates call for the death of an elected MP

EDL supporters calling for more death

A gang of EDL supporters beating an innocent man at a protest
