EXPOSED: EDL Spread Fake Hoax

The English Defence League (EDL) has been known to misinform and even lie to the public. And here is the perfect example.

The fake hoax of an obnoxious airline passenger

A story has circulated the web for years, telling of an obnoxious person who didn’t want to sit next to another person on a plane. Early stories report of a black man refusing to sit next to a white woman, and also the other way round. The Hoax-Slayer website (here) writes:
Quote: “While the story has recently resurfaced on Facebook, versions of the tale have circulated since at least 1998 and have been set on several different airlines in several countries. There is no evidence that the incident described actually took place on any airline.”
“While it may be uplifting, it is almost certainly a work of fiction. In fact, dozens of different versions of the story have circulated, by word-of-mouth, email and, more lately, via social media posts for well over a decade.”
The EDL spread the hoax

The EDL Leeds Division made up their own version of the fake story, and made the man into a Muslim, perhaps so it could help the EDL make Muslims look like the ‘bad guys’, as usual. Also notice how the word ‘unpleasant’ is capitalized.

Other EDL groups follow suit

As expected, other EDL Divisions blindly followed suit and shared the whole story. These included the Welsh Defence League (WDL), the Northampton DivisionWinchester DivisionWiltshire Division, Dorset Division, Weymouth Division and the Southampton Division.

The EDL has been exposed as untrustworthy sources of information.

  2. Can you give us some links to sites where the story first appeared in its various forms? Because at the moment it looks like you guys made up the background and then accused the EDL of making a copy including a muslim up. Also, considering it has a racist background, it would suit your agenda perfectly.

    1. Here's a article mentioning the incident back in 1999.

      Also, Snope, said:

“At different times the stories are circulated anew with their details altered. For instance, the story we recorded in 1998 about the racist woman on the British Airways flights out of Johannesburg came back for another round in 2004, that time purporting to be about a white woman on a flight between Saskatoon and Calgary. In 2005 it was told of a well-to-do woman seated next to a yarmulka-wearing Jew on a flight out of Atlanta. In January 2012 the story was spread via Facebook, that time about a “50-something year old white woman” traveling on TAM Airlines (a Brazilian air carrier).”

This makes PERFECT sense as to how the EDL 'altered' the version of the story to suit their agenda.

Also, please Google 'racist airline passenger story'. There have been many debunkings of the story as 'fake', and 'too good to be true'.

    2. This blog couldn't have made up the background as the story background has always been there! That being, the racist or obnoxious passenger.

Blame the EDL for circulating and making up a story to make Muslims the bad ones!
