EDL Redditch Demo Flops

There is no doubt that the recent EDL demonstration at Redditch (26/05/12), was mainly non-violent. But despite the small number of supporters who attended, three arrests were made. But did this demo achieve anything?

Why the demo flopped
  1. Only approximately 40 members turned up.
  2. Three arrests were made: two for suspicion of assault and one for breach of the peace.
  3. The demo cost local authorities and police forces lots of money and time.
  4. The demo didn’t achieve anything.
The Sunday Mercury, reported that one woman said,
Quote: “It seemed a bit of a flop to be honest and a fuss over nothing.”
One store worker even said,
Quote: “No-one wants them here.”
The demo showed us dangerous signs

The demo also showed us how bad parenting can affect the younger generation. A child was pictured with a cigarette and a can of Stella in his hand. He was even standing in front of a flag that bore the words ‘Muzzie scum’ on it.

Even a little demo can have negative effects.
