Luton Homecoming A Resounding Success! – Really?

So, the EDL published an article named ‘Luton Homecoming A Resounding Success!’Click here to read the EDL’s article published on their site. Upon analyse, we found that it did more UAF-bashing and media-bashing than explaining why the EDL protest on the 5th May was actually a ‘success’. The first line says it all...
Quote: ‘It’s not always easy to judge whether a demonstration can accurately be called a success.’
So why on earth does the title say it’s a ‘resounding success’? The title is just misleading and inaccurate. Moving on...

Numbers?

The numbers as far as we’re concerned, don’t mean a thing when it comes to whether the the protest was a success or not. We’re surprised to see how much was written in this section, perhaps because the writer didn’t have any more points to explain why the EDL was successful. The writer fails to mention that:
  1. The march didn’t really accomplish anything.
  2. The protest cost the council and policing forces more than £600,000 in costs.
  3. The majority of Luton didn’t even want the EDL there! That’s why people of the public organised a counter-demo (even excluding the UAF).
Good Behaviour?

The writer of the article again, doesn’t explain too much about the EDL’s good behaviour but changes the subject to the UAF and media-bashing. We certainly don’t think this supporter was on his best behaviour...

Provoking Muslims?

The Message?

The message was not clear, and the writer of the article doesn’t really explain what the point of the protest was either. A glimpse of banners at the protest told more about what it was about: an opposition to Islam, Sharia law and now a greater dislike for the council. Some banners could be deemed offensive too (i.e. depicting Muhammad and Aisha). The usual.
Quote: All we can do is continue to publish articles, continue giving interviews, continue speaking to the press and continue making clear that we are opposed to extremism in all of its forms.
Yet the EDL left the recent Tottenham Court hostage extremist alone? Where were the EDL when this man took people hostage and threatened to blow himself up? The EDL don’t oppose extremism in all of its forms, so this is just a lie.
