More Vandalism From Presumed EDL Members

A mosque in Pleasington, Blackburn has been vandalised and fingers are being pointed to far-right English Defence League (EDL) supporters.

The mosque has been daubed with graffiti that reads “Islam pedos” and “Islam murders scum” as well as the “EDL” initials.

Hate-crime against the Muslim community has been on a high in the UK, after the tragic Woolwich murder by two extremists. Previously, we recounted how anti-Muslim graffiti was daubed over a bridge in Mitcham Junction station, London (here).

The EDL and other far-right groups have been criticised for capitalising and hijacking the murder to further their agenda and stir up tensions within the British community.

Tommy Robinson Tries Covering Up EDL Nazi Salutes

The English Defence League (EDL) took to London recently to try and capitalise on the Woolwich murder of drummer Lee Rigby by two extremists.

But many were shocked to see pictures and videos emerge of EDL supporters doing vile Nazi salutes near a British war memorial.

In an attempt to cover up these salutes, EDL leader Tommy Robinson told BBC Radio that there are “no videos of anyone doing a Nazi salute” and that “there’s no Nazi salutes at any English Defence League demonstrations.”

Video evidence proved him wrong. The video below includes the interview and the Nazi salutes made in London.

EDL LIE About Disrespectful Woolwich Poster

On 25th May, the English Defence League (EDL) tried to distance itself from a poster which was circulated after the murder of an ex-soldier by two extremists in Woolwich.

It was criticised by many for being disrespectful to the family and loved ones of the ex-soldier, but the EDL blamed an anti-EDL website for making this poster up, claiming there was no proof that any poster ever existed and it was a fake.

The EDL Support Group, the EDL LGBT Division and the splinter group Casuals United brainlessly joined in sharing the news believing it was true.

But it all began to ring untrue as the EDL’s very own leader Tommy Robinson shared this poster on his own Twitter page.

Later, an EDL protester was seen holding the poster at an EDL demo in London, and pictures circulated by the EDL show more of these being held.

These weren’t fake posters after all, and the EDL lied.

Islamophobes And EDL LIE About Pregnant Flag-Flyer

The Islamophobia network, which is always eager to publish anything that might be used to demonise Muslims, cannot wait do some fact-checking. And many of them have been exposed already for lying and deceiving to their supporters. And here is another example.

Hate group co-founder Pamela Geller and her blog Atlasshrugs, Islamophobic hate site BareNakedIslam (that loves the EDL) and the English Defence League (EDL) as well as its Forum, circulated a video that supposedly showed a pregnant woman being arrested for carrying the British flag in Oldham due to “Muslim complaints”.

Note: Please hover over citations for proof.

EDL Divisions and allies who shared this claim included the British Patriots Society, the World Defence League, the Britain United Defence League, the EDL Jewish Division, Yorkshire EDL Halifax Division and the EDL Armed Forces Division.

Police confirm this story to be untrue

The head of Oldham police division quashed rumours (as reported here) that a pregnant woman was arrested for carrying a Union Flag through Oldham.

A Chief Superintendent said no one was held when the EDL gathered. The video posted on the net actually showed a woman being led by police towards a Tactical Aid Unit van after an altercation between two men.

The woman was holding a Union Flag and another flag Greater Manchester Police considered had a “highly-inappropriate” message.

Conclusion – No pregnant woman was arrested for carrying a flag

In conclusion, we can see how the extreme far-right is trying to push forward false information to demonise the Muslim community. And this is not the only case recently.

After the Woolwich murder that left an ex-soldier dead, the EDL tried stirring up tension between communities by claiming Muslims were ‘celebrating’ the attack in Oldham, which we found to be untrue.

The Daily Mirror and the Liverpool Echo reported that a footballer who encouraged people to riot and “bomb and gas every mosque in England” following the terrorist beheading of Drummer Lee Rigby, could be prosecuted.

According to the Mirror, Tuck is being investigated by police following his rant on Twitter which saw him calling for Muslim children to be beheaded in apparent revenge for the street killing of the 25-year-old soldier.

The Northern Premier League player, fumed online: “All the mosque’s in England now should be bombed or gassed out!!!... Or stormed by 50 lads machetes, swords the lot. An make a statement.

“Am raging in me loft here yno... Got the balaclava out, dusted down an ready for the meet.

“I’d be going through there door mate an taking there kids head off an killing whoever was in site!!”

He urged the far-right English Defence League (EDL) to seek retribution for the brutal murder of a soldier by two extremists in Woolwich, London.

Tuck’s blast continued, “the @Official_EDLare in Woolwich now!! What I’d give to be there with them now #flop #flop #flop #curryheadseverywhere.” and also to the EDL leaders, “Go f**king nuts!!! About time this country fought back.”

Recently, Islamophobic attacks have seen a rise in Britain and there have been countless cases of offensive remarks made against the Muslim community by members of the EDL.

Help For Heroes Charity Rejects EDL Money

Help for Heroes, the British charity set up to aid injured servicemen and women has told the English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson that they don’t want any money from him.

The EDL leader planned to have a sponsored walk across the city of London for an ex-soldier who was killed by two extremists on the street in Woolwich.

But the charity refused to accept any money from the leader, who notably has previous convictions for assaulting an ex-soldier and an off-duty police officer.

Many people have criticised the EDL recently for hijacking the Woolwich murder to stir up hate across the country and to promote their cause.

EDL Activist Jailed For Mosque Threat

The Argus has reported that an English Defence League (EDL) activist who threatened to burn down a mosque in retaliation for the brutal killing of soldier Lee Rigby has been told he could be sent to jail.

Mr Rodgers took to Facebook following the recent killing and called on his fellow EDL members to meet him at Hastings mosque.

Brighton Magistrates’ Court heard that the 28-year-old posted “inflammatory” remarks on the social networking site commenting that “the mosque needs burning down”.

Prosecuting, Melanie Wotton, told the court that they found a series of “vile” and “inflammatory” messages after they checked his computer.

Confirming his name, date of birth and address, he pleaded guilty to the charge of sending an indecent, obscene, or menacing message.

Lead magistrate Paul Brown, said: “The harm you could have created was potentially huge due to the circumstances. You made threats to burn down a mosque and mobilise people at a time when feelings are running very high due to a tragic incident. All options will remain open, including prison.”

Mr Rodgers will be sentenced at Hastings Magistrates Court mid June.

EDL Protect Britain By Destroying Pub

On May 26th, supporters from the English Defence League (EDL) took part in a march in Bristol and scenes turned ugly as riot police were dispersed to handle the events.

Supporters gathered in a pub in St George, got drunk and later wrecked havoc.

According to the Bristol Post, one man from Bristol was trapped inside the pub and took pictures and videos. He posted them via social media and posted comments such as “Full-scale riot” and “I am trapped in the pub hundreds of police out side.they are building a wall in the pub.get this they are still serving at the bar.”

A small number of arrests were made for public order offences on the day.

“Send The Black C*nts Home” Says EDL Figure

We’ve seen many examples of racism within the ranks of the British far-right group, the English Defence League (EDL).

As we’ve covered on this blog, we’ve already documented countless EDL supporters making racist remarks online and at protests, and also highlighted various supporters who have links to far-right white supremacist groups.

But recently at a EDL protest in Newcastle, a speaker is caught on camera saying:
Quote: “I know what I can say me… [slurred speech]… send the black c*nts home… send the black c*nts home.”

Alternate video link here.

It has been claimed by numerous sources that the speaker is Alan Spence, a North East regional organiser for the EDL who was reported in the news for attacking an Irish centre with a gang on 22 September 2010. CCTV was captured of the incident.

Sick EDL Members Incite Hate After Woolwich Attack

When news emerged that two extremists hacked a British ex-soldier to death using a knife in Woolwich, the EDL was quick to use the news to promote their agenda and stir up tension between British communities. It certainly worked...

We went through a status on the official EDL Facebook Page and picked out 30 disgusting and vile comments made from supporters.

These comments go as far as to advocating shooting, mutilating and bombing British Muslims. Some even advocate the burning of places of worship.

This goes to show how the EDL played with emotions and used the Woolwich attack to promote their hateful agenda against the British Muslim community.

The EDL even shared false information about Muslims “celebrating” the attack, which the police found out to be untrue (here).

EDL LIE About Muslims Celebrating Woolwich Attack

A police patrol was sent to Oldham after the English Defence League (EDL) fuelled false and made-up rumours of “Muslim celebrations” over the tragic Woolwich attack in London.

The EDL shared this fake piece of news via its social media networks, presumably in an attempt to stir up tensions amongst the British community.

Greater Manchester Police, whose time had been wasted, confirmed there was no basis to the news and the EDL was indeed, circulating a false rumour.

The attempt to stir up tensions had already worked. Countless EDL supporters became angry over the false news and wrote offensive comments which advocated shooting, mutilating and bombing British Muslims (here).

Note: The EDL and its allies have previously shared fake stories about Muslims “celebrating” after the Boston bombing (here).
